MAD Passion

Hello :) I'm Martin Alexander-Drake, also affectionately known as MAD. Not mad-crazy, just mad-passionate and ready to help you create ceremony magic!

I'm an accredited Humanist UK wedding celebrant from Bristol, working in the South West and way beyond. I collaborate with adventurous, fun-loving couples to craft and deliver bespoke ceremonies.

Weddings, elopements, partnerships, vow renewals and commitment ceremonies.

Martin, thank you so much for making the ceremony and the whole process so deeply enjoyable and enriching. It was such an incredible way for us to refocus on each other and what we want from our lives.

Handcrafted. Personal. Authentic.

A MAD humanist ceremony celebrates life in technicolour. Putting your ceremony together is a collaborative, fun and thought-provoking process. We’ll choose authentic words and actions that reflect your relationship and beliefs — the unique story of you.

The result is ceremony magic — personal, meaningful, memorable.

Traditional ceremonies can often be in black and white — templated words and fixed structure. For many of us, religious ceremonies don’t reflect our beliefs, and civil ceremonies can really lack personality.

Humanist wedding ceremonies offer more...

Creative Freedom

There are many common threads to Humanist ceremonies, but no two are the same. The starting point is your imagination. And when it comes to traditions, embrace those that have real meaning to you and exclude those that don't. Make your own rules.

Alternative Wedding Venues

Humanist ceremonies are not limited to licensed venues. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities, especially in the great outdoors. How about a clifftop, beach, woodland, or even your own back garden?

But if you’re seeking shelter from the storm, how about a village hall, community centre, or Airbnb? Endless options.

Choose your Celebrant

Unlike a civil service, where you don’t know who you get until the day — choose your celebrant. You’ve spent so long picking the perfect venue, photographer, food, outfits and band — why shouldn’t you be able to pick who will conduct your ceremony? Someone you click with. Someone who will wholeheartedly invest in you and your story.
